Run

“I can’t Run” But I knew, deep down, that there was really no reason, physically, that I couldn’t run – I would sort of “try” to run, but as soon as it felt a little uncomfortable, I’d just walk. I didn’t have the confidence or mental strength to push myself farther. It’s simply “mind over matter. Right? My friend, Sarah suggest couch to 5k training and agreed to start with me. This meant I actually had someone to question my progress or lack of. Soooo I decided to give running another shot. At first, I could only run 1 minute at a time. Only being able to run 1 minute at a time was humbling and hard for me to comprehend seeing as I didn’t think I was in that bad of shape. I could do a day long shopping cardio workout in six inch...

There’s a lot to see with magnificent views that will stay with you for a lifetime and a lot going on at this island paradise. Bermuda may be commonly known for its turquoise ocean, powdery pink-sand beaches and Bermuda’s favorite rum drink, the Dark and Stormy, but there’s much more to this island paradise than folks zipping around on scooters wearing brightly colored shorts, Bermuda is a golfers paradise. Did I forget to mention it’s only a 2 to 3 hour non-stop plane ride from Atlanta? Very pleased to read this! Ready to spend four lovely nights in Bermuda with my daughter. Choices

When I think back over my life, I’ve found that life is about choices. The hard choices I’ve made were the ones that provided lasting positive change in my life. When I took the easy road, it didn’t have any impact, it was only the hard choices that really brought about change. Life is about choices! I’m happy where I am today because I’ve had to make hard choices. They weren’t the most fun at the time. I knew I had taken the easy road before that, and it led to a life I didn’t want. If you feel like you’re not making any progress in life, or you just feel stuck, take a look at the type of choices you are making on a consistent basis. We have two types of choices in life: easy or hard. How simple is that? The easy choice will take absolutely...

So proud of myself not to be tempted by the Easter Bunny, I’m sorry to hear that some women don’t have a lot of willpower. Not to brag, but I personally have a tremendous amount of willpower. In fact, I haven’t even touched the many SWEET JESUS I WOULD KILL FOR A F*$#ING CHOCOLATE EGG, AND MARSHMALLOW CHICKEN Peeps I bought for my Cutie Patootie’s Easter Basket. You see, I am not tempted, it’s important to remember that dieting OMG, A BASKET OF jellybeansAMPHETAMINE is a mental game. And one needs to stay strong of mind and appreciate that your body’s health is far more important than GET INTO MY MOUF, YOU DELICIOUS MILK CHOCOLATE BUNNY RABBIT a few moments of sugary weakness. Augusta

Recounting my childhood in this beautiful Georgia City along the Savannah River, goes without saying Augusta is at its peak in spring but at it’s finest in early April. I grew up thinking spring break begin in Augusta the week of Masters, the first full week in April when hundreds of thousands of golf fans descend on Augusta for the Masters Tournament, World-renowned, Augusta National Golf Club, known as one of the most exclusive in the world. The atmosphere makes the medium-sized city come alive every April, but it’s largely fueled by visiting companies’ hospitality tents and catered parties for those who prefer that and the culture with egg salad sandwiches and fairway views. The Masters are unlike any other kind of major, standing alone in a category of pure perfection and greatness. You can’t help but smile, feel the warmth and realize this beautiful...

Perfection is overrated

Perfection is overrated. What would happen if you defined perfect in a way you see fit, If you weren’t out to validate yourself through other people? What would happen if you put forth your best effort because that satisfied YOU? It is my belief that life is too short to spend it living in a state of misery because you are too busy trying to fit the mold of what the world is telling you that you should be. Nothing will ever be perfect. In fact, perfect is a totally subjective term. When you tell yourself you are waiting for the perfect moment, the perfect opportunity, the perfect anything, what you are usually doing is waiting for an opportunity that looks like the one someone already has. Or you are convinced that you will botch up the chance, anyway. Most people who say they are...

Traditions Change

Family Traditions Change: The Ties That Bind Us In A Knot. My traditions have changed over the time. And I’m good with that! Traditions change. And that’s okay.  When we’re unwilling to change, it’s easy to work ourselves into a rut.  In that rut, we forget why we do what we do.  And we begin doing things simply because we’ve always done them…getting frustrated with anyone who questions or challenges our traditions. Traditions change. And they should.  Because we change.  Life doesn’t stay the same.  It takes us through many different roads.  People are added.  Taken away.  And that changes the flavor of our families. Traditions change. And if you stick so closely to your traditions, you’ll alienate many newcomers.  Take, for instance, my children.  If we were unbending in our holiday routines, they would always view Christmas as a rushed, tiring, hectic, gifts-focused time....
